A central point in the works of Irina and Marina Fabrizius is the perception of light. The work of the Fabrizius sisters is rooted in the tradition of the light art of the twentieth century, such as that of the ZERO group of artists of Düsseldorf and the American light artists James Turrel, Robert Irwin, Dan Flavin and Douglas Wheeler with their self-referential works. Today, when Irina and Marina Fabrizius render light perceivable and eidetic through painting, the effect and cause become almost subsumed in the atmosphere and the question arises as to the essence of light.
